The answer to whether I can get an agentic Python App running on mobile spans the full environment stack and proposes a really exciting problem. The goal is to keep as much Python in my writing as possible -- this makes it accessible for a single Python developer or a single team with primarily Python capabilities to create an on-device project.
There are a few themes I saw at PyCon US: (1) Practical adoption of AI (2) Pin your dependencies, audit your packages / make security accessible to everyone (3) Traveling to the US was too high of a barrier to much of our community (4) To cut through the noise, companies are trying to reach us in person
I discuss a few of these themes and explore others in my conference recap.
The Python and data science communities I spend time with are asking the right questions about AI reliability. Not just "does it work?" but "does it work correctly, and can we verify that?" Ontology-as-boundary-object is one of the more rigorous answers we have to that second question right now.
